The furniture was chosen first, the screen went where the cabling happened to be, and the video bar went wherever it fitted. The result is a camera that can't see the end of the table, a screen too small for the back row, and audio that bounces off three walls of glass. For long tables that usually means the screens and video bar on the end wall, facing straight down the table, with screens sized for the furthest seat rather than the nearest. In the boardroom at the top of this post, dual screens and a video bar sit on the end wall, with a touch panel at the table and power and connectivity in flush table boxes, so there are no cables across the table. Rooms with a view bring an extra challenge. A wall of glass looks spectacular, but a bright window behind people turns them into silhouettes on camera. The answer is to keep cameras facing away from the glass and to plan blinds for the hours when the sun comes across the room. The same room adds a ceiling-mounted PTZ (pan-tilt-zoom) camera beside the windows. It faces into the room rather than out at the view, so faces aren’t lost against the glass, and it keeps the table clear. **Pro-Tip:** Design for the back row. Size the screens and place the camera for the person furthest from the front of the room, then check the nearest seats aren't uncomfortably close to the screen.
